For more than a century, the Berkshire Museum has been an important part of the Berkshires community. Founder Zenas Crane wanted to provide a “window on the world” to the people of the Berkshires, and the Museum has stayed true to Crane’s vision of service ever since offering innovative exhibitions and programs for an intergenerational audience.
Today, the Museum is focused on serving its diverse community of stakeholders – children, families, and Berkshire county residents and is preparing to implement its new Interpretative Plan. The Plan will focus on interdisciplinary interpretation, exploring the connections among science, history, and the arts, inspiring curiosity and helping audiences of all ages better understand themselves and the world around them. Objects from the Museum’s collection will be displayed in innovative new ways that will allow visitors to see more of the collection than ever before.
The Berkshire Museum summer intern will receive broad exposure to all facets of the Experience Team management, including Interpretative Plan implementation, exhibition and program planning, curriculum development, and collections management. The intern will work directly with the Chief Experience Officer and other senior members of the Experience team who will share their experience, knowledge and insights.
