Onyx Specialty Papers, Inc. manufactures specialty papers for a wide breadth of technical applications.  We are dedicated to providing custom products that meet customer-specific performance and design attributes. Our products can be found in medical applications, electronics, automotive parts, countertops, signs, labels, and fine arts paper.    

We have openings for 2 or more Product/Process Engineering interns at our South Lee, MA mill.  Additional openings available for students willing to work an extended term (Fall 2019 or Spring 2020)  Note:  Subsidized student housing is available. 

Job Summary: This position supports a variety of product development and process improvement projects across all product lines.  Student assignments are customized for each individual based on experience and demonstrated level of readiness. 

Job Accountabilities: Entry-level Co-op Students:·     

  • Generate lab prototype samples that directly support new product development.·     
  • Conduct laboratory studies in support of Onyx’s product development and process improvement projects ·     
  • Document the results of each assignment, and interpret results working directly with experienced engineers in our Technical Group·     
  • Present results of assignments, and lessons learned, at the end of the co-op term

Students with some related work experience:

  • Build on skills from related experience·     
  • Conduct investigations into specific process and product engineering projects·     
  • Follow sound engineering principles and project planning techniques: Define the problem, develop a plan, collect and analyze data, propose possible solutions, test hypotheses, implement solutions, verify results·       
  • Present results of assignments, and lessons learned, at the end of the co-op term

Position Requirements:    

  • Student approaching Junior or Senior year in Chemical Engineering, or related field·     
  • Motivated to learn and continuously improve ·     
  • Good interpersonal skills and attention to detail·     
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking·     
  • Must have a car and a valid driver’s license·     
  • Must be a US citizen, or eligible to work in the United States
